Venisa Beasley-Green, EdD, has been a professional school counselor leader and student advocate for nearly thirty years within Chicago Public Schools. Over her career, she has served as a teacher, school counselor, department head and central office administrator, transformational specialist, and freshman academy director. She also past president of the Illinois School Counseling Association. Veniesa is keenly aware of the national educational reform agenda and possesses high-level knowledge of using data to drive student achievement indicators. She is a highly skilled professional with extensive knowledge about the critical role that school counselors play in supporting postsecondary outcomes. Her area of expertise lies in establishing processes and structures to support student achievement within a comprehensive guidance framework. She is extremely knowledgeable about the needs of underserved student populations and serves as an advocate for the development of student services and supports for underserved student populations and their families. Veniesa devotes her energies and enthusiasm to developing and leading programs to ensure the academic success of all students through promoting and developing college and career-readiness activities. Her area of research is in the development of comprehensive counseling models for urban populations. She implements the development of collaborative systemic supports to drive success and creates intentional college opportunity pathways for all students. She has taught at all levels from elementary school through college.
